EEG Motor Movement/Imagery Dataset

This is an unofficial mirror of the PhysioNet EEG Motor Movement/Imagery Dataset, version 1.0.0. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the dataset contributors, their institutions, or PhysioNet.

Source and documentation

The source files are mirrored without modifying their scientific contents or directory layout. This dataset card is the only added file.

Dataset summary

The dataset contains 64-channel scalp EEG recordings from 109 participants, sampled at 160 Hz with electrodes placed according to the international 10-10 system. Each participant completed 14 experimental runs:

Runs Duration Task
1 1 minute Baseline, eyes open
2 1 minute Baseline, eyes closed
3, 7, 11 2 minutes Execute left- or right-fist movement
4, 8, 12 2 minutes Imagine left- or right-fist movement
5, 9, 13 2 minutes Execute both-fists or both-feet movement
6, 10, 14 2 minutes Imagine both-fists or both-feet movement

Each subject directory (S001 through S109) contains 14 EDF+ recordings and 14 corresponding .event annotation files. The EDF+ annotation channel and the matching .event file encode the same events. T0 means rest; T1 means left fist in unilateral runs and both fists in bilateral runs; T2 means right fist in unilateral runs and both feet in bilateral runs.

The top level also includes the original RECORDS, ANNOTATORS, wfdbcal, electrode-montage files, and PhysioNet SHA-256 manifest.

Human-participant data

These are human EEG recordings. Users are responsible for following applicable institutional and legal requirements and should not attempt to identify participants.
